reasons to consider playing the lottery

Weeks are beginning to fly by, each Friday surprising me with the weekend sprawling before me, ready to be filled with readings and assignments to complete. This week has been full of late nights, finishing calculations and graphs and demography modules. I wonder when I will have time to actually DO, apply, create, act.

i honestly have no idea, besides sweeping health care reform and a lot of philanthropy.

Thanks to ICAP and other HIV researchers, workers & lobbyists, the cost of antiretroviral therapy (ART) went from $10,000 per person per year to $800 in the late 1990s/early 2000s. In countries like Brazil, production of generic drugs has increased access for many people. However, increasing access to drugs only increases the life expectancy and quality of life for HIV+ people - it does not deal with social stigma, lack of access to education/healthcare/employment, being denied human rights etc. Not to mention increased access to ART does not lower new cases (incidence) of HIV.

I wish we had real health care reform (not just health insurance reform). My dream is to be wealthy enough to be a philanthropist. Better start playing the lottery, right?
