Just Read: Spook Street by Mick Herron. This is the latest in his Jackson Lamb spy series. Just as good, if not better, than the earlier ones. OK, Mick Herron isn't John Le Carre, doesn't write with the same lyrical flow, but my goodness, he's the closest I've ever come to reading. it's funny about taking books off the book trucks as though that is a recommendation. I usually hit up the new books after picking up books and other materials I've placed on hold so you'r right about not hitting the shelves (unless a book i was going to hold is at my local library).

i do scan the non-fiction once in a while but I seldom select a novel from the shelves.

Pepys as a husband was a real pill, all right. Goodness knows he could be tyrannical, and of course he was as unfaithful as he could possibly manage. And jealous.

I started to read 'Wolf Winter' but didn't get very far before deciding it wasn't for me (at least at that time, might go back to it and try again one day).

I like your new tactic for finding books though.
