one reason: ego. i live in a hippie town and i am part of a hippie profession, and we still have this. the nonprofit world is full of big, fat egoes that want to be the first/best to do whatever it is they are doing. ergo, no sharing.

haven't you learned by now not to expect anything significantly useful from people without a boot to the face with GIVE ME [insert stuff] written on the toe?
or, rather, that people in this day and age just don't grow up fast enough.
