Kevin and I took a trip to Turners Falls today. I can't remember if I've ever been there, or just rarely. I'm so glad we made these plans today. The weather was perfect late fall: clear and cool and not too windy. Most of the leaves are down, but the vistas are still fantastic.

I'm close enough to that bike path that I can ride over to it. It's ruined me for most other routes because it is just so very pretty. Ben and I used to talk about maybe taking a trip cycling around Italy, but we just don't see the point when we have bike rides like that around here. It has literally ruined me for other bike paths.

I am pretty much always glad I came to New England to live, because it is always beautiful. It's not always comfortable, but every season is brilliant, majestic.

If you're that close, you must already have eaten at least one of those sandwiches, and know how delicious they are. The bacon I got there made the meatloaf I baked tonight.

I recommend my afternoon as a template for your family fun, next weekend: bike, sandwich, music.
