I've had nothing much to report. The weather is all the sudden summery w/brilliant greens and blue skies (and soon-to-be anxious farmers if we don't get some good dousings) and I've been coming home and sitting on the back lately. Taking a 20 min. walk at dusk (in which mda & I were greeted by a whole bunch of curious cows on their side of the ( Read more... )

hey, I keep forgetting to ask you a weird question...

and you are under NO OBLIGATION to investigate this any further than just thinking about it for a minute.

Did FLLW ever design a window (or any other design) with a turtle in it?

I was thinking about painting a turtle on a piece of furniture. I was thinking about a design style, and I thought "I'd like a turtle that FLLW would have designed." So, I thought I'd check.

Regrettably, I don't think he did. Anything w/nature in it tended to be abstractions of trees or flowers.

I like the detective work. I'm glad I've only got one field to work in. I've been doing more detective work which I may write about soon.

Sounds like nice weather up where you are! We had one scorching week followed by a really cold one. Now it looks like rain. Our farmers aren't very happy either.

If you're looking for book suggestions, I'm currently reading The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier. It's pretty well-written and in the style of her most famous book, Girl with a Pearl Earring. The difference between the two books is that each chapter of The Lady and the Unicorn is told from a different character's point of view. I think that it makes for a very interesting storyline if you like historical fiction. :)

Looks pretty fun (although--gasp!--I had a tough time w/"Girl w/a Pearl"--I liked the atmosphere created, but I wasn't crazy about the main character).

oooo. good call. didn't know she'd written anything else-thanks for that tip.

like k., I loved the atmospherics of girl/pearl, but I liked the character of Griet, too.

If you want something to read, I can get a free book to you. The catch? You would have to review it. Evil, I know.

I'll take a free book, and I'll review it!

Yeah, that's a scary thought. I'm not a reviewer, either.

That's great about the pictures. Nice when someone else has done some of the work for you even if you have to read to find it ;)

So, how's the work on his centennial coming?

I haven't gotten to work on the pictures yet. That might be one of those things on teh back-burner for a year or two (hopefully not, but it's possible).

We've not had any discussions about that lately. I had my ideas, and nothing else has come up. We've got 6 years, or maybe 1, depending on how serious we want to get.
