Claudia Blake is an over achiever.
She can’t help it. It’s how she is. She gets told to do something, and she goes above and beyond. Straight A’s, scholarship to a good school, four-point-oh GPA and all the extracurricular activities a girl could ask for. She is barreling at full speed towards a bright and brilliant future, and she’s only twenty years-old. Most people think a girl like that would be happy with her life, settled in herself and confident in where she is going.
Not exactly.
Claudia Blake considers herself a failure. A huge, gigantic, colossal failure. Because for all her book smarts and drive to achieve, her social skills are quite lax. In fact, they’re incredibly lax. They’re far below the standard of what they should be for a girl her age. Claudia is the girl who perpetually puts her foot in her mouth, because she just doesn’t understand the world the way the rest of the people do. While normally it wouldn’t be a problem for her. She could learn to live with it. But when it came to her Calling, she just knows that she’s going to be the worst guardian in the world. Forever. Without exception. Most of the time, she tries not to think about it, but when a fellow student calls her out as being a robot, it’s bound to make a girl wonder.
Claudia is never late for work, but that doesn’t mean she’s actually going to start working once she gets there. She slides behind the bar (she still doesn’t know how she has this job) and starts settling the glasses. It’s not long before she gets distracted, resting her arms on the bar, and burying her face in them.
“I fail. I’m terrible, and I suck.”
Yes, that just about sums up Claudia’s day.
