"El Terror Trabaja"

"La guerra cambia a la gente. Los hace duros, los cadaveres en las calles no les afecta. La vida no la aprecian porque saben que pueden morir a cualquier momento. Mi familia, mis amigos eran diferentes quando los volvi a ver. Me tenian desconfianca porque habia estado el los E.U."

intense.

it's so strange to think of all the crisis going on in the world and the people who make it out alive, and make it to America think that that if they tell someone, a huge spark will be lit and us powerful Americans will fix it for sure.

The civil war in Uganda is in it's 23rd year and tens of thousands of children have been kidnapped and put in the hand of the rebel army to become soldiers. Millions of citizens have been forced into displacement camps because the rebel army has raided most of the villages just killing everyone. Women and children too.

for our first choir concert, we sang a piece that a guy in our choir composed called "Beautiful Rain"
The words were taken from an interview of a genocide refugee from Darfur. The guy wrote it as a five part cantata but we just sang the first part. it was so amazing!
If I get a recording of it, I'll send you a copy.
but my point is that the guy whose interview was used also travels across the US and tells his story and that's how David, the guy in my choir, met him. I was so impressed and grateful that David had taken an initiative to retell this man's story through song.
And it's true, unfortunately these survivors come to the US seeking help and all we can do is listen and try to get our government to react, but until it affects our economic interests, the gov't won't get involved to the extent that they should.
