This was so dark and deviant; I couldn't grasp Reid's real motivations for letting Nathan go as far as he did, and your Nathan was just the perfect balance of chilling and pathetic, and I would LOVE to see more interaction between these two. Great, great, great work!

Thank you so much!! A balance of chilling and pathetic is such a good description for Nathan. And yes, Reid's motivations were a bit of a tricky area - he obviously has some issues going on under the surface that are leading him to do this (besides just feeling guilty and responsible), but I wasn't sure how clear I wanted to make that, and it seemed to make sense for him to be avoiding confronting them anyway.

Anyway, I'm really glad you liked it! There isn't enough fic of this pairing out there, I'm considering writing more.

I liked this a lot. The atmosphere of fear and want was really great, very tense. I liked that I could believe it as I was reading it because Reid in the show has a little streak of the self-destructive and he really did connect with that character in the episode. It's sort of S&M, too, which I could even see it fully developing into if this went on, becoming about sex and pain without the added danger of possible murder. If given that outlet, the focus from murder that he can't commit might shift to just a sexual desire that can be fulfilled with the right kind of person. I mean, this guy never actually acted on his urges to murder, so that's even more believable. Also, I just loved that this was slash with one of the unsub characters, I almost never see that and I see potential for it in the show all the time. Loved the writing and the way you set the scene, and over all, I think it was totally brilliant.

Thank you so much - I love this comment, I've been thinking about Reid/Nathan ever since I saw the episode (which admittedly wasn't that long ago, I've been marathoning the show recently) but haven't had much chance to discuss it! I'm very intrigued by S&M so I think that's partly why this idea came to me, and it did seem to make sense what with Nathan's violent urges being so tied up with his sexual ones. I had the same thoughts about it becoming that sort of outlet for him. The idea of pairing the characters with the unsubs is definitely interesting and I've seen opportunities too! It seems to work especially with these two, given that Nathan hadn't actually committed a crime and Reid seemed so attached to him.

Ughhh so glad that the Reid things like his victim-issues and babbling-uselessly-about-facts worked, I LOVE HIM SO MUCH THAT WRITING HIM MADE ME SUPER NERVOUS.

Ha, actually, one of the things I wondered about when I was re-reading it today was the bit with Reid coming first. I aaalmost changed that, but in the end I kind of liked the extra loss of control on Reid's part, and the idea that Nathan was in control to a certain degree, like, enough to make sure this didn't end too quickly, because that made it a little bit darker. LOL LIKE IT NEEDED TO BE DARKER ( ... )
