Posting from work on my break. La dee da.

I finally saw the RENT movie this morning. So much love. There were a few things I took issue with, and there were a few things that couldn't have been more perfectly-perfect, and all kinds of in between those two extremes. But mostly, it was lots and lots of GOOD. I bawled like a freakin' baby through ( Read more... )

I had my moments of near-tears earlier on, but Without You just broke the flood gates and there was no hope for me after that. Oh God, just thinking about it... *sob*

Tango: Maureen and Over the Moon shocked me by being so incredibly good in the movie. I really hadn't expected them to be so funny and unique on screen.

I see what you mean about the transitions. But after some of the songs they did cut to black. And in my theater (which was almost full with RENTHeads) everyone would clap after those songs. But you are still right about I'll Cover You.

Oh my! Without You. I have like no words to describe my love for that painful scene. It was just done so perfectly.

Same with the funeral scene.

I loved this movie so much it is almost scary.

Yes, with Tango Maureen and Over The Moon! Those were definitely two of the moments that were better than anything I could have ever dreamed to hope for in the inevitible movie adaptation of the show ( ... )

I loved, loved, loved the movie, but I did think a lot of the transitions were super awkward. The cutting to black didn't work very well, in my opinion, although I don't know what could have possibly been done to fix that.

I thought "Take Me or Leave Me" was amazing. But that might just be my love for Idina Menzel talking.

Yeah, there isn't much you can do after the singing and dancing stops to go back into the action aside from fading to black really. It works so well live because of the applause. Nothing else could have been done I don't think. Fading to black was better than trying to pretend it didn't happen and just going into the next bit, right?

Ah yes Take Me Or Leave me was great. I really liked Tracie as Joanne, I hate to say it, but more than Freddi. The love for Idina and her total encompassing of Maureen's Maureen-ness is something that cannot be denied. I liked the commitment ceremony backdrop because it fleshed out the relationship further and showed the stakes were high by the time the tension built enough for the action of the song. And the choreography as far as the movement from room to room and such, really well done, imo.

*draws hearts around movie*
