Fandom: Pirates of the Caribbean; Sparrington

Rating: R

Disclaimer: I have no claim on POTC or the lovely characters who populate it, even if it seems that James Norrington has, somewhat disconcertingly, made himself quite at home in my head with no apparent plans to leave.

Awwww!! What a treat. I love James explaining all his scars, and the backstory you've given him.

"James, are you in love?"

The commodore choked on his tea.

And I can totally see that.

Very enjoyable read. You write the boys beautifully. Thank you!!

Thank you, darling. While it was the abduction scene that got me started writing this (almost against my will, thank you evil plot bunnies) it was the scars scene that convinced me to give up, admit I'd written a sequel, and post the damned thing; it was just too pretty of a scene to dismiss. I'm glad you like it, too.

And I think I've begun to sincerely have fun writing Elizabeth, if only for the purposes of having her pester both Jack and James.

“James is in the same state, you know.”

Jack choked on his sip of rum and coughed heavily.

Ah, good old fashioned Sparrington is always a joy to read, and this was a lovely (almost a one-shot!) series. I adore these 'Norrington takes a holiday with Jack's help' type tales, and especially enjoyed Jack's exploration of James's scars. There should be more of this sort of thing! :)

Lovely work.

I'm glad you like it, m'dear. I was originally unwilling to write this, and resisted most mightily until it got to the scene exploring James scars, which I stared at, bit my lip and went, "damn, now I have to finish this story and post it, because that's pretty."

And the "there should be more of this sort of thing" idea has been responsible for more of my most stubborn plot bunnies than anything else.

Hi! I found your journal through sparrington where you just posted the epilogue to "The Challenge". Liked the summary, and had a look at your writing style. Well, and then I started with all your one shots. :)

I'm commenting on this particular fic because it not only features Jack and James (although that's enough most of the time *g*), but also Will and Elizabeth, and I think your characterisation is spot on.

Great dialogue between Jack and James (I can hear them saying all of it!), Will is wonderfully awkward and sincere, Lizzie is clever and immediately knows what's going on (and wouldn't she? *g*) - lovely ( ... )

Thank you very much for the marvelous review, m'dear; it's quite brightened my day. I am all sorts of happy to hear that you like my stories, and especially my characterization, about which I am something of a perfectionist.

My own addiction to this pairing began just this past summer, which makes me rather new by comparison to many others, and I'm deeply flattered to be considered among the best writers, as it was the quality of writing I found in various Sparrington archives which first hooked me and started all of these plot bunnies in the first place--along with the sex appeal and the wit and the sheer intelligence of both characters. They are indeed fun.

And you're more than welcome. If I did not share my plot bunnies by spilling them out here, my head would probably have exploded at some point from trying to contain the damned things; I am thus more than happy to share.

You're absolutely welcome. :) I'm in the PotC fandom long enough (only reading, that is) to know that it's sometimes really difficult to find fanfic with characters that are in character. So I was really happy to find that your dialogue was great and very IC. *phew*

I've noticed that especially Sparrington writers seem to be quite good at keeping characters IC. I don't know why that is, perhaps this pairing just happens to intrigue people that are more mature or something. For me it started with firesignwriters "Jjail" (yeah, I know, jump right in *g*), was it a year ago? Perhaps even longer. And really, what more can you want than two really good-looking men that are witty as hell and like to chase each other? ;)

Well, I hope your plot bunnies keep up the good work. :) I've enjoyed your stories very much thus far.
