Lovely chapter. And as you said, "Important plot-related things happen." Gillette was a bit of a surprise, I must say! Although I like how you handled his character - he was almost a little reminder that most sane people prefer no piracy to piracy + magic. xP Well done indeed!

To be honest, Gillette surprised me, too. Here's what happened:

Me: Wait! I need to keep the plot going!
Gillette:~materializes out of the mist~
Me: That's creepy. ~dramatic chord~ Ah! But it gives me an idea...
Gillette: Merde.
Me: ~sways toward him, invading his personal space Sparrowishly~ How do you feel about moral conflict?
Gillette: Well...

Oh my!! *laughs* I think I'll keep my muses safely out of your grasp! My Gillette certainly doesn't have that much moral conflict, in fact, he has next to none, unless he's in a Gillington sort of mood.
