Title: A Sobering Thought

Fandom: Pirates of the Caribbean; Sparrington

Rating: PG-13

Disclaimer: I have no claim on POTC or the lovely characters who populate it, even if it seems that James Norrington has, somewhat disconcertingly, made himself quite at home in my head with no apparent plans to leave. Jack Sparrow has been dropping by at ( Read more... )

Ah, you are so evil, tricking us all like this! I wish I could say I didn't believe that Norrington was dead, but it wouldn't be true. I only had a tiny hint of doubt in my mind because porridgebird betaed the story and I'm sure she wouldn't read anything in which Norrington dies (and remains dead). ;) *relieved sigh ( ... )

Bwahaha. I mean, thank you. You flatter me very muchly.

I'm especially pleased with the feel-good effect this story seems to have. I'm very glad you like it, and Groves, and my ever-present displays of Sparrington banter. I've got half an idea for a potential sequel with a little more Groves, but we shall see.

And you're more than welcome, m'dear.

Wow, that was really nice, thanks for posting! I've been out of Sparrington fandom for a long while, but because of a recent combination of events & circumstances, the banked flame has come roaring back to life. The scenery has changed, though - so many of the authors, stories and websites I knew & loved are now gone - so it's nice to find that folks are still writing really good stories like this! My favorite 'James-is-dead-but-not-really' story is still the_dala's "Burn Your Bridges Down", which can be found here http://the-dala.livejournal.com/58143.html, and its sequel, "Careful How You Bend Me". Sorry for not putting that in a cut, but I don't remember how, and alas, right now I have no time to figure it out.

I'm surprised no one has asked you who Groves' mystery lover was! I'd sure like to know!

I welcome you back to the re-kindled conflagration, then, m'dear. I myself only got into this pairing last summer, quite on accident.

I've read those stories on Horizon, actually. Both are indeed lovely.

It was only in retrospect that I realized that I'd neglected to name the object of dear Groves' affections. I think I'll leave you to guess until such time as I may have a chance to write a brief sequel, as I've an idea for one rattling about in the back of my head, but no time yet to let it free.

Oh, this is lovely! I can never get enough of those stories where the chasing is sort of a game between Jack and James (counsiously or uncounciously). :D

I love the "Christmas incident" especially, and the idea of Jack snatching one of James' buttons and wearing it in his hair is made of awesome! Thank you very much for sharing!

I can't get enough of them either, it seems. I regret nothing.

The Christmas Incident was quite fun, and is my idea, but the button, alas, I picked up somewhere, from a few other fics wherein it appeared as such a shiny, tempting little ornament that I couldn't help but surreptitiously slip it into my pocket.

I'm glad you like it, and thank you.

Um, hi. I hope you don't mind my sudden appearance here. drbillbongo recced your fic and I couldn't help myself, and took a peek, and next thing I know I'm sniffling in front of my laptop because, oh noes, dear Norrington is dead and Jack's despair and regrets are very vivid and realistic ( ... )

Bwahaha--I mean...Thank you. I'm very happy to have tricked you in such a fashion as to delight you. It twas my goal. Well, that and another excuse to write banter between these two: an addiction for which I have no shame.

I'm glad you liked the Christmas incident, but to clarify, James only deduced that Jack had been there after the incident, probably when he went to hang his dress-coat in the wardrobe later that evening, long after Jack had made his escape. This, presumably, caused him to feel a bit dismayed at first, unsure whether or not Jack had overheard certain things, especially until he could see what Jack's plans were.

And feel free to barge in anytime, and invite anyone else to barge as well. I find comments of all kinds to be most encouraging. From strangers? All the better: more points of view. Hell, barge in on my other fics, too, if you'd like. I have several.

And yes, you may have a cookie, for you have found my stolen quote.
