why do you think Chavez should be re-elected?

Our socialist club had a screening of that.

Chavez has done good in the sense that he's making a conscious effort to give back to the poor in his country. That's pretty much the only thing I like about him. Honestly, I'm waiting for him to pass legislation that extends his terms as president.

sorry I read this, and I was disturbed.

Great misconception. But that isn't true. Sorry, Zach.

He hasn't improved Venezuela's social services?

He's improved healthcare--although many people are skeptical of his "social services" because they're tainted with the presence of Cuban aid. Such as Cuban doctors that are being exchanged for Venezuelan oil. Venezuela, like many other Central/Latin American countries have a long-standing tradition of very wealthy, very learned private-practicing doctors and a very poor, public healthcare systems. With the influx of Cuban doctors, I read that people that could not afford private physicians before can now go to a public healthcare facility and pay very little, or nothing at all. Nevertheless, in the article I read there was a picture of Castro on the wall in the doctor's office--but I think that is irrelevant. The point is this guy's (Chávez) is being smart because as we all know, Cuba is known for its medical programs ( ... )

all im going to say is.... how many ppl actually waste as much fuel as americans do in this world let alone venezuelans? Furthermore, there country is not in an energy crisis they have plenty of power with there hydroelectricity and home made fuel... compared to the world needs venezuela has more than enough for itself :P only way that 2$ can fill a tank and also on the other hand the dollar is worth much on the global market just some of my random thoughts :)

Hmm ya know i too am wondering why he should be re-elected?

This is true, but the question is: why has there been such an uneven distribution of resource wealth in the country? moreover, why has there been such an unequal distribution of money, not only in Venezuela, but in all of Latin America?
I think Chávez can do something about that, and maybe he already has.

hmmm can he really change that? I mean like the familys from the days of the old land aristocrats still own massive tracts of land... And they WONT give it away this will only continue to hinder growth because of there high prices... furthermore, i dont think chavez will have a lot of time to worry about latin america i think he has his hands pretty full with venezuela..

That's exactly why Chavez is going to have trouble staying in power. It's always the case in oil rich nations that the companies who sell the oil get most of the money from it. That's why as Chavez does his social programs he'll need to either cater to the Venezuelan elite or risk being removed. If the man could make policies that satisfy both he could actually take the country in a good, middle-ground direction. But I really doubt he will. His whole platform is based around being a man of the people, and the way he's doing about things, I doubt he can actually please both groups.
