So, about 2 hours after my whining about not having Continuous Christmas Favorites(c) on the radio yet, electriclime sent me a text that they had started! It's nice to know that the Universe is paying attention to me. :P ( Read more... )

* For Thanksgiving, we always got the turkey in the oven and went up to the mountains to play in the snow for a few hours.

* Christmas: just being a dork with my brother.

I was baking last night (because it calms me) and I had Christmas music playing (because it calms me). My son, Kyle, let me know he thought it should be ILLEGAL that Christmas music is playing before Thanksgiving.

......... so I turned it up.

Last year my sister & I had a froggy vs. monkey oven mitt fight :)

One of my favorite things about Christmas is the special food that my grandparents make. Grandpa makes beef jerky so succulent, salty & moist that my whole family treats with reverence second only to baby jeebus; sharing is rare :) Grandma makes these peanut butter chocolate balls that are way better than a Reeses cup and make my eyes roll upwards in happy sugar shock.

A family tradition of ours for Christmas Eve is to go to my parents church, sing carols then go on a driving tour of Christmas lights. Candy Cane Lane is over-hyped and annoying to wait in line for, but the Olympic Manor neighborhood (just off of 85th while en route to Golden Gardens) is twinkly and pretty and has way less traffic.

For the last two years, us kids (we're all in our twenties) have been pushing Chinese for Christmas Eve dinner as a new tradition. Everyone is usually exhausted from cooking for the main event, so we're slowly persuading them!
