There are bad days. And then, there are Bad Days. And Zechs Merquise is decidedly having the latter ( Read more... )

In that training room, Zechs also happens to have company. If he hasn't noticed this, one really can't blame him - he seems to be rather distracted.

Or at least that's what Heero is judging from over here. The damage to the door supports this theory, and the punching bag completes it. Heero, for his own part, is just leaning against one of the undamaged walls, watching this whole display with a raised eyebrow.

"Une will probably make you pay for that," he says, finally.

Well. If she didn't have 'casualties by angry Zechs' in the budget in the first place.

'I really,' Zechs grinds out between the final few punches that tear the bag from its housing and send it flying no small distance, 'don't care. It wouldn't be the first time, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.'

It would be unsurprising if Une did have a budget allocation for gym equipment lost in the line of duty, with a subsection for that personally destroyed by a certain Vice Commander with long hair and a short fuse.

The fit of wanton destruction seems to have taken the edge off, for the moment at least, and Zechs turns to face Heero, arms folded across his chest and expression more or less unreadable.

'Was there something in particular that you needed, or shall I move on to round three?'

Well, four, if one were to count the incident with the door.

"Round four," Heero says. "Or possibly higher than that - I bet other things suffered on your way here."

Just a guess.

"Do I get to inquire as to what's causing these rounds?"

'Only the ceiling tiles, and they just get stuck right back up there.' It is, of course, entirely possible that the roll of tape he hurled did in fact dent the wall. It didn't have the sharp thunk of a rebound, but more of a dull thud. Zechs runs the fingers of his right hand back through his hair and sighs ( ... )

It's four hours later, and Heero is in the office that he shares with Duo. His laptop is on, and showing some data that he had been working on.

The key term here is had been been working on - while he had been going fine until about twenty minutes ago, it had been about then that he had found himself incapable. For about an hour, he's had a persistent headache that's just slowly gotten worse and worse. He's usually tolerable of such things, but this time, this is a pain that can even stop him ( ... )

If his head hurts that much, then it's wholly probable that the sharp knock on his office door will not make him particularly happy.

'Heero. I need to talk to you. It's important.'

Of course, it's always important when Zechs goes to see another agent in their office.

...no. It really doesn't. But it was his choice to stay, therefore, he can deal.

"Come in, then," Heero calls. "But don't let the door slam."

Well. He may have chosen to stay, but he can ask for a concession or two.
