Sent warded and ciphered from the Office of the Hogwarts Inquisitor, in reply to his
earlier missives:
Dear Father:
Naturally you may trust in me that I will do everything possible for my country, my family and my beloved. Still I appreciate your faith in having chosen me to help Magister Goyle and I shall do everything possible to ensure that it is justified.
I am absolutely certain for reasons I would prefer not to divulge in a letter, even one as protected as this, that Justin and Alanna would be better off living with us than with Mother. I also believe based on things I have heard my sister say that Mother is probably better off if she can have her home to herself for a while.
I'm sure you're aware of this, but I need to tell you that Endymion's Uncle Ozzer is trying to get him to confess to having been involved in some sort of misbehaviour involving Secretary Zabini, which he has heard about from someone named Teresa Silveira. I know he is normally your friend, but apparently he is very angry about this rumour, which is of course ridiculous, and has threatened to take Endymion away from us, and you will have to deal with him because we cannot.
Amusingly, Aunt Chattox has made me a prefect as the current prefect in our year is ill and unable to serve. It is regrettable, for he is one of Endymion's friends, but I cannot say we do not enjoy having a room of our own.
Give my love to Lavinia. Addie, Fiammetta, Justin and Alanna are all doing well.
Best regards,
Hadrian
PS: JW naturally suspects his grandfather's hand in all this, particularly the harassment of Endymion; we have had a long talk about it just this morning. Also if you are contacted by the Boot family regarding an assault, be assured that if Francis Boot in fifth year does not stop calling Endymion 'Miss Fairlight' at once, I shall certainly loosen his teeth for him.
