They were two separate list items - we can compare notes in general, *and* we can get around Mr. Mehrbach's issues. I think that means I get to keep my comma. ^^

Right, but it can work the other way, too, and the way it is now it reads weirdly. It looks as though "and get past the way Mr. Mehrbach tells different classes different things" is part of the list that is CEN and being in separate Physics classes.
