Eggs, Bunnies, and Spring

I headed up to visit the parents over Easter weekend, especially since (a) it coincided with Mom's birthday, and (b) she's been out of the hospital only a couple of weeks. Overall, it was v. positive, going out with Dad on Saturday to get some stuff for the garden and helping him putter around in his garden and with his various potted plants while

I've always admired people skilled at gardening. I think I got my sister's "black thumb". I got some pepper plants to sprout last year, but they died before bearing, even though I brought them inside when it got cold. I've currently saved three avocado trees (plants, really) from winter. They are in the house getting what light they can. I think it's about time I put them outside, but I am concerned that if I actually put them in the ground they will be dead at the first freeze this fall - I don't think they are meant for this climate, and I really don't want to have to keep them in large pots as they get bigger.
