I spent most of yesterday in the hospital with my mom. She's addled because of toxins from stuff going wrong with her liver. We're hoping they may be able flush that out so she can think clearly and tell us unequivocally what it is she wants. They may not be able to, leaving us (my brother, really) to decide for her.

What a night. My poor mom. From evening to the early wee hours she was up roughly every 20 minutes. For the rest of the night, it got spread out some more, to maybe a restful once every hour - hour and a half. The bathroom light was on, but her bedroom light was off, and she ended up disoriented and facing her closet a few times. Same thing ( Read more... )

The pain in my back is bad enough that it also hurts at my solar plexus and under my ribs. Just took 4 ibuprofen with some milk and a rice cake - hopefully the wonder drug will start its magic in about 15 minutes, as usual.

I lost my saving throw in the supermarket recently and bought a 5 lb. bag of carrots, which I've been slowly whittling away at. With an eye towards the remaining 2 1/2 lbs. in the fridge, I made Beta Carotene Pilaf tonight.
