The Next Day

Mar 29, 2006 23:37

Even by late afternoon the next day, Riza was still in bed. She'd been awake off and on throughout the day, drowsing more than actually sleeping, and for the most part, remained there. Tea and food were readily brought to her by Edward, and on a certain level inside, it amused her to realize he was fussing over her almost as she might have done in a reversed position.

At the moment, she was content to lay propped back against her pillows, looking out through the window, clutching the warm mug of tea to her chest while he sat in a nearby chair, engrossed in a book of some nonfiction sort. Riza supposed she really should be getting up and getting dressed and going back on about the business of living, but there wasn't quite enough energy to manage that. For now, she was fine with staying in bed, in her room, closed away and hidden and staying comfortably numb, drifting in and out of dreamless naps.
