Martha Jones was the staunchest most respected pioneer for change in UNIT, and she was doing it without carrying a flippin' gun. RTD even suggested that she was more like the DoctorDoctor in SS S4, and he implicitly trusted and admired Martha with his life. With one Cameo, everything he said was a lie.
It was nothing more than character assassination. *curses him*
I agree with everything you just said! Martha knows better than to carry a gun for so many reasons! And what happened to all that ambition to be a doctor and "put people back together"? It was her drive, and then he killed it.
Further, I think Martha and Mickey are a wrong couple because, come on, can't she get away from being everybody's Rose rebound? She already served that role for the Doctor and the audience, I think doing the same with Mickey is just taking things too far.
Loved the video, though. Stephen Fry is always excellent.
Exactly. The point of difference at end of S3, was that she defeated the Master WITHOUT weapons. She left him, to be a Doctor and healer. And she did so brilliantly and as skilled, intelligent and incrediable as the Doctor; himself, would testify.
Not sure if RTD did it for Moffats new vision (He's been quoted as not wanting the previous companions back. Quite famously, he's not a fan of Rose either)and thereby tying up loose ends. Or he just never imagined Martha surpassing his creative vision, and he had to take her down a peg or two.
Martha and Mickey. Yeh, that was my first take too. But I think it isn't about secondbest, because they never were in the first place. It's just that it's all too sudden, and it seems that Mickeys influence has undone everything she was so proud of being.
She'll always be Doctor Martha Jones. Medical Director of Unit, and the world is darn better for it!

Which, frankly, is the biggest pile of BS ever!

It would be like RTD to fuck with Martha one last time.
