How will RTD leaving and Steven Moffat taking over 'Doctor Who'  affect Martha?

-RTD loves writing for Martha so will he take Martha and bring her to Torchwood permanently?

-Will Martha remain a crossover figure? Will she be on 'The Sarah Jane Adventures'?

-Will ST have anything planned for Martha?  What do you think he would do with her ( Read more... )

Something I've been curious about ever since the Moffat takeover was announced: Just what is his opinion on UNIT/the UNIT family?

Because if he liked them, back in the day, I'd say it'd be more likely we see more of Martha as recurring, if only as part of a new UNIT family.

But I haven't a clue about what's going to go on with Torchwood and SJA once RTD leaves.

The head writer for T/W (Torchwood) has left so I now assume that RTD will be the head-writer on or in the very least will still be involved in that series.

After-all T/W is in essense RTD's creation.

I'm not sure what will happen. I know some of what I'd like to happ. Steven Moffat only wrote one episode with Martha right? Which was Blink which had very little Martha and Ten in it so that doesn't help us much. Steven Moffat had a fairly good gasp of the characters (Doctors and companions) in his past episode. I'm waiting to watch his two new episode before get into how good of a gasp he has on the characters.

If Martha won't come back as a full time companion which I believe she never will then I'd like to stay on as a crossover character. She was very good in both Torchwood and season four of Doctor Who even if her some times she had a limited role.

Spoilers for Doctor Whom and Torchwood in the black. Highlight to read at you own peril.

They seem to be keeping her on as a crossover character with this radio play with Torchwood and the three episodes at the end of this series of Doctor Who ( ... )

I more or less agree with this comment. Frankly, and this will probably sound bad, but I hope that Martha doesn't marry Tom, for one reason or another. Not because I dislike Tom, but because her arc should not be dependent on a love interest. They use the engagement to compensate for too much. "Martha's over the Doctor because she's engaged", "Martha doesn't want to travel with the Doctor because she's engaged", "Martha is appreciated because she's engaged." She shouldn't need a fiancé for these things to characterize her, IMO. It's a Deux ex machina.

Anyhow, I'm hoping that Moffatt will be more convincing in his portrayal of Companions on the whole, and be less biased toward one or another. Which with any luck will mean good things for Martha, if he opts to keep her around. It's hard to say just how much he plans on changing once he takes the reins.

THANK YOU! I couldn't agree more and to me it doesn't sound bad at all because it's all true.

I absolutely agree.

I'm probably the only one not anticipating more Martha past the s4 finale. I could be wrong, but I also think it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, concluding her story.

I really don't want her to be a Torchwood regular. I liked her run on it, but too much time there and I'm afraid they'll pick at her until she falls apart.

That's what I'm afraid of. I don't want that to be true.

Her story ending or her being on Torchwood?

(I don't want her story to end.)

I just wanna see Martha on screen more. Weekly if possible.

I love Freema so hopefully she'll be on TV more now.

i sort of hope that she will be the owen replacement because we know she worked well with them all even if she was underused when she was in the show. Having her there full time would mean that she would get some better storylines I would hope and she could be used a bit more to her full potential as I feel like in both DW and TW so far this year she has been a little pointless as a crossover character and needs a place to fit in

the radio play will be a good help I think establishing if she can fit into it and It will still allow her to be with her husband (like Gwen) so it seems like a good choice

I don't know how much that would be changed due to Moffat takeover though as we still have the specials to come next year right?

so by then hopefully she will be in an established place if you catch my drift

I can see her in SJA but I much prefer her in TW (so long as they keep TW as adult and don't dumb it down for children because of her as it IS an adult show)
