some girls think that alcohol is filtered a little through the placenta. WRONG

Feb 01, 2011 11:15

• When a pregnant woman drinks the
alcohol passes swiftly through the
placenta to her fetus.
• The fetus metabolizes alcohol more
slowly than in an adult's body.
• As a result, the alcohol level of the
baby's blood can be even higher and
can remain elevated longer than the
level in the mother's blood.

well any amount of alcohol has the possibility of damaging a developing fetus. it is always up to the mother though. a risk worth taking to some ladies. its just important that they know. the surgeon general has changed it to no amount is safe.
