It had been weeks since Sansa has last seen Joffrey and if she could not check the strange island method of sending messages then that was a small price to pay. It was the first day of the New Year and Sansa already thinks it will be the best year she has yet seen on the island. She'd spent the morning inventing to Eddara just what life will be ( Read more... )

There was one point that Joffrey would not have gone near Summerfell, but that point has passed. He has argued with his mother again and again, as his actions grow more rash each day. Each day he is reminded that he is not King he is nothing but a boy trapped in this place like any of the others here.

In his rage he takes comfort in the one person he has control over, the one person he knows fears him. The night before he had drunk much, and he is still not entirely sober when he makes his way to Summerfell, intent on confronting the Starks and telling them Sansa is his whore, and he would have her or not when he pleased. Seeing her with her bastard throws him, and he comes storming from the trees. "Whore," he hisses the word at her, advancing on her quickly.

Sansa clutches Eddara to her at the sight of him and takes a step backwards. "You can't be here," she said her shock at seeing him so close to Summerfell making her incautious with her words. For a moment she considers throwing her betrothal in his face but she will not use it like that and she doesn't want to hear his spiteful filthy comments on the matter. It's nothing to so with him. She fumbles about and adds hastily, "it is not safe for you, Your Grace."

Safety is not a concern to him, he feels invulnerable right now, beyond any man's harm. "Is this your babe? If you're lucky I'll let your mother raise it. Or maybe I'll give it one of the kitchen wenches to raise." He laughs a cruel laugh, moving so he is but a mere arm's reach from her, "Perhaps she can be given to one of the brothels. One of the poor ones. Or he, whatever it is. I hear there are those that like boys as well."

Sansa can do little but glare at him poisonously her courtesies all undone by his words. "You shall never get near her," she tells him vehemently. "This is not Westeros and Eddara and I don't have to listen to your filth." Eddara is going to be raised the stepdaughter of a King, one who is a hundred times more worthy of the title than Joffrey. Caspian cares for her daughter, and Sansa means to see by the time she gives Caspian children of his own, he's already experienced at fatherhood. She knows better than to turn her back on him but she is stepping away from him rapidly fear obviously mingled with her defiance.

Joffrey is incensed at her words, half-drunk and beyond caring he lunges for her, grabbing for the bastard-child. "I will put my hands where I please!"
