Wow! You needn't have worried, this is bloomin' amazing!

It takes an awful lot more whiskey for Gene to confess that he was scared of losing Sam. Well, it would do! This line really sticks out as my favourite, probably because I'm a sucker for fluffy/angsty slash...

The idea of the rainbow fading is really beautiful; Sam's future in 2006 has faded with it. And the last line is fantastic: that's all Sam has ever done, I think - cling onto things for as long as he can and hope they stay for ever.

Simply and beautifully written. I loved it! :D

Well I'm glad you enjoyed it! Maybe I would be happier with it if I'd managed to give it a bit more time instead of rushing to meet a (late) deadline. Thank you very much for such lovely feedback - made me feel mmuch better!

Wow like the idea that it was the betrayal that forced Gene and Sam together. This was expressed in a wonderful way.

Thank you very much. I think the betrayal would have pushed them either way - it would have changed something, certainly. And being a Sam/Gene fan, it was always going to be closer!

I liked this so much! And one of my favourite themes that not too many writers use, that is how Morgan might feel about Sam betraying *him*. Loved Gene's idea of revenge.

Yeah, I agree. Even as I wrote it I realised that I hadn't actually ever considered Morgan's feelings about the whole thing, only Gene's and Sam's. Thanks for commenting!

Kinda like the boys screwing on Morgan's desk of course ;)
What's interesting here is how Sam feels. As happy as he is with Gene now, we're left with the feeling that it's not something Sam thinks will last. Sort of a 'when's the other shoe going to drop' feeling. It's a great portrait of the Gene/Sam relationship.

Thank you! This did actually start out as a straightforward smut piece based simply on the thought of what the most inappropriate location would be, but I found it weirdly odd to write and ended up with this. God knows how.

It leaves the dynamic of their relationship bizarrely unchanged and seems to complete their relationship, which is not to say that it's a smooth ride, teaming fire with fire.
I love this as a description of Sam/Gene: the idea that a physical relationship between them slots in with the relationship they already have. This fic's rather uplifting, in its own odd sort of way, and I like it very much. :D

That's always how my idea of their relationship goes - I think the only way it works in my mind iss if the slash is just somehow an extension, perhaps because I love their dynamic in canon so much that I don't like changing it. I'm glad you found it uplifting - I myself was pretty moody when I wrote it so I don't know how it happened!
