Oh man, "bittersweet" really is the proper word to describe these drabbles. kind of read a bit of involvement on Sam's side in the first drabble. Like... not in the Valentine's chocolate, obviously; but I could absolutely see Sam trying to support young Ruth, if he knew where she went off to and if he had the means. But even with Vic doing that, it's... yeah. Heartbreaking. ; v;

The last one is super adorable though. Trust Gene to lighten the mood. ♥ Thank you for sharing these with us! <333333

Your html broke and I don't know all that you wanted to say in that second sentence ;___;. But yeah, I wrote that bit with the intent that you could read into it that it was Sam who was doing (at least some of) these things. Ruth of course would just think it was Vic. After Sam's attempt to help out with money in 1x04 I don't think he'd ever do something openly.

And yeah, Gene's pretty good at that XD He probably knew Sam was feeling cruddy anyhow and getting a laugh out of him would be as good as a smile.

I was saying that the one that broke my heart the most was the Sam/Annie one - how that seemed to work the least, how Sam kind of tried to go off what he knew from Maya, and it backfired so badly... And between those two especially. But I can also see it happen in canon, really.... sad as it would be. ; v;

Yeahhhh I actually felt that way with the Sam and Annie one too. I love them so much but it would be so easy for them to not work out.
