I like this. The entire way you've written it, it's simple yet elegant without seeming redundant, and it's painful, that too -- a whole lot of angst packed into such a small amount of space. It's breathless and beautiful and it hurts.

Oh ow. This fic packs such a punch.... I love how you used the 2nd person for this fic - there aren't many of them out there, and I believe it's hard PoV to handle, but wow, you made it work so brilliantly. I've often found myself wondering about what was the cause for Sam and Maya being the way they are at the beginning of the series, and you know what? Your fic provided me with a very sad, but very plausible and gorgeous headcanon for that.

There's just... so many beautiful lines in this I could be quoting back at you, but I think the one that stayed with me the most is the small bit with Ruth. Just... yes. Beautiful. Thank you for this fic. ♥
