'Expressed my... displeasure...' - yep, that's Gene. No doubt. Love how truculent he looks throughout. He does NOT like being in that cell, but he'll be damned if he admits any wrongdoing whatsoever.

The original script was a bit more direct and talked more ("Expressed my displeasure with some other blokes, which happened to take the form of my fist in all of their faces…"), but I kinda felt that with Gene, his indirectness would for itself, so I edited it when it came to writing it in.
Ohh, truculent, that's a good word.. I might have to use that at some point. -scribbles down-

Yayyyy, I'm always so happy to see more of this, and thank you for kind of letting me in on your creative process because I like helping out in any way I can <3333 It looks so good all together, and I want to smoosh their faces and hug them and give them both nice things. I'm really happy with Gene's story as for why he's here at all.
Sooooo excited to see this! Delightful! I love how beautifully colored everything is, how you've done their faces and mouths, Gene's scruffiness, the contrast in those panels of the two of them on opposite sides of the bars... You know how to DO this stuff, and it shows!
The only downside is that it'll take some time to tell the story! But it's worth waiting for! I adore Gene's expression in the last two panels!
Really? It's not that different from the last 3... It just has more exposition. :U I do like panels 5-8 though, because it's not as bland background-wise.
Like you said, the contrast in these panels are p nice, and I especially like the perspective on panels 7-8.
The boy's faces came out rather nice in those panels too~
Ugh, yeah definitely a downside!! >n< Especially since I'll get stuck for about 3 or more months on what to do next. The comic itself it also rather draining, usually taking about 2 weeks in totally from start to finish.
I wish I could consistently work on it and not get stuck in how ATROCIOUSLY AWKWARD THIS WHILE JAIL SCENE IS.
I'll always get stuck in the "...Well shit, now what??" mindset when the conversation just stops and gets awkward. Dx
I'm glad you like the expressions though, I had a tough time with the expressions in panels 10-11. @ @ Jerks weren't cooperating... Can't say I blame 'em though, they're understandably upset.
Ohhhh I really like how you've drawn all their expressions here, and there's a lot of really nicely done angles too! I especially adore Sam in panels 7 and 8 (I think - I hope I didn't miscount XD), this view from behind is so hard to pull off (imo) and you did it really well, keeping his likeness so extremely close! <3333 Also, the shading! You don't normally do soft shading like this, and I've been really liking the way you used it in this comic. It really adds enourmously to the atmosphere! ♥
It just makes me so sad how Gene is all... well, he's obviously distresse, and who wouldnt be after being shot dead and then waking up in a city he doesn't recognise at ALL - and Sam's being so cold ; n; poor baby. *pets Gene*
Anyway - can't wait to see how this progresses! :D

I've been using soft shading for this whole thing cuz it's a bit more lenient with lighting. With cel shading, you have ot know EXACTLY were each light source is. Plus life generally has more soft shadows, especially in a scene like this.
