As I was putting together the most recent Mars_daily post, I scrolled back and realized that talkingtothesky and I have been running that for well over a year now! Yay us! While it's a thankless job, I have always valued the resource and am happy to keep it going ( Read more... )

Congrats to you guys for maintaining Mars_daily! It really is an excellent resource and reference point, and I don't doubt it must be a lot of work as well. <3 ( ... )

I simultaneously feel like an ass for posting this, but also I think sometimes people don't even realize that an appreciative word is so valued. Unfortunately some people might feel scolded, which is totally not my intention. I've had friends remind me before that there should never be an obligation to comment, and that there's nothing wrong with lurking, etc. etc. it's all true.

And sometimes everything else (or even one other aspect of life) becomes all-encompassing.

The truth is, LoM fandom is Amazing about commenting and feedback. In my dabblings in other fandoms I've found that other fandoms do not give nearly as great, loving detailed feedback as LoM.

So. I should have included that stuff in my post.

Oh, I definitely agree with you about LoM fandom as well-- it should never be forgotten that we're incredibly lucky here in terms of the amazing quality and general amount of feedback we receive. Like you, I've floated through enough fandoms to truly appreciate that difference and I'm glad every day that I ended up here. <3

WELL DONE TO BOTH OF YOU <333333 Mars_Daily looks like a hell of a lot of work, but you both do such a fantastic job, and we thank you for it <33333

It seems to have been a difficult couple of months for people, since it's exam-time for all our school/uni/college-age members and for some reason people's jobs seem to have gotten a bit hectic recently (I know mine has!!). But feedback is great, and it helps fuel more fanworks, which is always a good thing :) So yes, mirroring Rebel's sentiments!

(God I can't wait until I have enough time to draw some fanart.... It's been WAY too long!!)

I always have such a problem commenting, because I'll either be overwhelmed with the quality that I dunno what to say, or life'll bog me down, and just thinking of the effort of commenting will just kinda drain me, cuz I like leaving big, in depth comments.

I do LOVE leaving my comments though, because I like showing my appreciation for stuff. ; u;

Oh, I love Mars Daily!! I used to check it so often, not so much nowadays as sadly I have less time to spend on here but still - thanks for all your hard work!

And yay to comments - I love to get them as well. (Unfortunately, I haven't created anything comment-worthy for over a year now... :-(() And I know that lots of people do so I try to comment on everything that's posted. But...see above... I just don't manage timewise. Still, I'm not giving up. There will be the time when there's more time, and thus also more feedback from me. *hopes*

This is so true, and I think it's great to give people another way to think about the act of commenting and discussing.

I definitely agree that people round these parts are generally great for comments, and the quality of comments too - they are often really detailed, and personally I love, love, love it when someone picks out a word or phrase they really enjoyed. I try to leave comments like this myself because I know how exciting it is when someone picks up on a part of your work that you particularly like, or highlights a part you didn't expect to have any impact. Warm and fuzzy is right!

I don't think anyone will take your post the wrong way - it was written warmly and with the intent to show people that, even if they're not writing or drawing, they're a crucial part of the process.

And since it's my first visit in a while, I'll now be suiting action to word and commenting on some stuff I've missed!
