Awwwwwwww, this is lovely! :D The description of the accident was fantastic! And oh Sam, you crafty bugger XD I don't blame Gene for getting his revenge afterwards, even though Gene kind of deserved it for driving that madly in the first place XD

It's wonderful! :D

Thanks, fern ... I had a lot of fun with the accident scene, and their arguing back and forth. Thanks for reading. :-)

Oh my GOD, deb! That is too awesome! Wow, you got *everything* in there, didn't you? Holy crap!

I must admit, when the nail polish came out I was taken by surprise, and I shouldn't have been, but ---eeee! The shifting layers of mood and emotion and caring and frustration! gene baring his soul! Sam taking the piss! I love that beans on toast really is Gene's idea of a special dinner. Hee hee. Your writing is so rooted in reality, in sensations. And your dialogue lawyer sparkles.

Yay!

Okay, this is so lovely that my heart just expanded and is now floating away happily, like a helium balloon ... thank you.

I did want to say that the action descriptions were fab, and I loved the moment when Sam whimpers and Gene thinks for a moment that its the dog.

Alright, this made me laugh out loud twice. Once at Sam's deception, and second at Gene's revenge. xD Oh, not to forget their bickering in the beginning. Loved this! A touch of angst, but then a really great humourous twist. Jesus I'm still giggling like a madwoman over "twinkle-toes" xDDDDD But kudos to Sam for catching onto it so quickly, even in his groggy state.

Oh my, what a nice comment. *smiles* I had basaltgrrl's artwork for inspiration, and I decided to work the painting of nails in as revenge. I'm glad you liked it. Thank you!

I'm sure by this point that you know everything I think about every part of this story ;) I still love their bickering, it's my favorite part of the story. They are both so prickly and determined to be tough and gruff and underneath they're such softies--albeit devious, underhanded softies. Such a lovely, funny examination of their relationship and why you should never, ever cross either of them.

Thank you, and your comments and suggestions were so helpful. I enjoy writing dialogue, especially for Sam and Gene, and it's generally my favourite in anyone's fic. It was fun going for a little bit of humour this time, including it with more poignant emotions. Thanks again.

Hehe, that was fun. Loved the energy of that crazy car chase and their pitch-perfect bickering. And yes, even if it was Gene's fault, good on him getting revenge after Sam faked that amnesia ;)

Thank you very much. The car chase and their bickering was my favourite as well, and I really enjoyed the insults Sam got in while he had the excuse of no memory, the rascal.
