I love the softness of this, and also the realism. Details like the fuzziness of Sam's chest compared to Gene's really help you buy into the whole thing, and also proves that masculinity cannot be measured by the amount of body hair one has. XD

Sam wondering about Gene's backstory is a favourite trope of mine, and you deal with it brilliantly here. Sam's hypocrisy, oh dear. So in character it hurts.

And that last paragraph. ♥ Warm fuzzies all round. I always have such a craving for fluffy romantic Sam/Gene, and this delivers, thank you! :)

Oh, thank you for this lovely comment, sky. Glad you enjoyed it!

I do love a little bit of realism in my stories - they sometimes tend to be like fairy tales (LOL) because I just love happy Samd and Gene forever so I think some little tiny bit of real life brings it back to earth. :-)

I have to admit that I have been influenced by some fic I unfortunately don't remember, regarding the description of Gene. Nevertheless, it's my own, just the idea of describing him in detail was "stolen".

And warm fuzzies - yay, success! That's the most important goal for a fic like this!

There's nothing better than a gentle moment between these two very manly men. I don't mean that in the huge machismo type way, I mean it in the, they are what they are and no matter whether they're 'nobbin' like bunnies' or just argueing over a case, they will always rile each other, rub each other up the wrong way. So seeing tenderness between them is a huge ooey gooey thing for me. Lovely :) xx

Sometimes a lot of fluff is not my thing, but you've managed to incorporate a bittersweet note in here that works for me. I like the way you use Sam's musings to fill in their back-story, and this line made me grin:

Sam had found that despite all his bragging, Gene had been quite modest about himself...

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment even if it's not your kind of thing usually. I'm glad you found something in this fic that works for you. And yes, this line still makes ME grin like a loonatic!

This is beautiful! A bittersweet and lovely kind of fluff, all the more wonderful for the rough edges, cozy like an old familiar blanket.

Thank you so much for your comment. And yes, I hope it feels like something warm and cozy, even if there's (or maybe even because there is?) the acknowledgement of sadness.
