A word in my shell-like?

Thanks to phantym_56's fantastic transcripts, plus the miracle of closed captioning, most of the mystery dialogue in LOM has been identified. Yay!

But - there are three bits of indistinct dialogue I'm still struggling to clarify for the new-and-improved transcripts site.

Can anyone help?

I seem to remember hearing the one in 2x08 as "soppy plonk".

*relistens carefully*

Yes! There's nothing like having someone else say it to help you hear it yourself ;-)

Thank you! That's episode 2x08 taken care of, then ♥

I hear "someone that's fruity?" or "someone that fruity?" on 1x02. Can't tell D:

As I see someone has got the last, I think 1.02 is

"what are you waiting for a song and dance routine, shift...".

Not sure about 2.04, all I can here is something like

"no need to rush boss"

but I don't think that is right.

I think you're right, and Loz concurs, so now we have a functioning coalition :-D

Thank you!

I concur with saintvic

1.02: "song and dance routine!"

2.04: It's "no need to rush, Boss", which, considering it's Sam he's speaking to, is either a) sarcasm, or b) really, really, really fucking weird. (Intonation doesn't sound sarcastic, but equally, it's so quickly and quietly said, it's hard enough to hear the words, let alone the subtext.)

Yes, and yes.

You're right that Ray's intonation on "no need to rush" isn't sarcastic, but who knows... perhaps he was shooting for barely perceptible irony that day. (I like to think that Ray is occasionally more complex than he appears :-)

Thank you! ♥

Or Ray was being genuinely supportive of Sam, because he didn't want him to screw up?

...

Naaaaah.

That's alright. I had the avis ready to hand (my DVDs stowed away in a box) and I am avoiding writing, so, it worked out well for the both of us.

Plus there WAS a need for Sam to rush, because, as we know, the Law might come along at any moment :-)

I *love* the idea of Ray being so quietly and subtly sarcastic that most of us don't even pick up on it (as with a good many interesting lines, you certainly won't find any trace of it in the subtitles).

Transcript editing is a wonderfully effective way to avoid writing, I find...
