Well...

I've started going to New Romantic club nights.

Dug out my old Boy George records and started buying all the albums I remembered from school discos on CD (was born in 1979).

Have immersed myself in 80s culture so much that I've turned into a Duranie and cut my hair into layers.

Have started excercising with Mad Lizzie from TVam via YouTube.

My friends and I got giddy over Sherbert Fountains in a shop last week and had to buy some.

I've started dipping curly wurlys in my tea.

Have given up on trident gum and gone back to Juicy Fruit.

Went on a ridiculous trip to the Manchester area with my friends just to find the damn police station from LOM.

I have Gene Hunt quotes on my mp3 player.

...and I really am loosing the plot aren't I?! We need to give this a name so we can diagnose it and start finding some sort of treatment! LOL!

Ah you appear to have a slightly different strain of the disease seeing as your first few symptoms appear to be A2A related...

LOL! The juicy fruit, mp3 quotes and curly wurlys came slowly at first, and then I got a really *severe* Ashes strain of the disease that set the 70s strain into full power. ;)

I must admit to treating the A2A strain with a very severe dose of complete denial and by keeping it in strict quarantine away from LoM. *dons mask, tips hat to you* *g*

I know what you mean, and I'm speaking as somebody who is old enough to remember the 70s. I started walking through my local supermarkets looking at all the products that are around today that were around in the early 70s. I got to discussing with a friend all the soap powders and detergents we could remember that were around then as well as cake mixes, cereals, biscuits, soups, etc. and I was really amazed that so many of these products have stood the test of time because you can still buy them today ( ... )

the LoM Syndrome sounds quite professional, although there would have to be a mutated A2A strain of it *gg*
we really need to identitfy the symptoms in order to treat the illness. perhaps a vaccine could be found, further research is definately neccessary so i will have to rewatch it all serval more times :-)
my mum still has nearly all her sewing patterns from the seventies and i have always looked at them when looking for a new style, even the pattern for my wedding dress was from then :-)

Are you addicted to curly wurlys and sherbet fountains?????

Curly Wurlies are the ultimate good. Nothing has ever come close. Sherbet fountains just give me the urge to start licking Gene Hunt's upper lip. And you can still get sherbet lemons - not usually in supermarkets, although you can get lucky with the Pick and Mix, but there are still plenty of newsagents with those big jars of sweets you measure out. Thankfully.

Are you questioning what has Life on Mars done to you ?

Constantly. Especially when I read back over some of my smuttier fic. I used to be a good girl! :DD Happier for it, though.

Are Gene Hunt's metathingies pearls of divine wisdom?

Just loving the word metathingies! XD

i think over 4 marks at once is a sign of insanity

Quite. Completely un-necessary. The curse of the writing world. It must STOP!!!! NOW!!!!!!!! ;)

Hello, by the way, and welcome! :D

Ha-ha - as someone who remembers the 70's as the era of sweaty polyester and nylon, platform shoes that I begged and begged my mum to buy me and then had trouble walking in, and some truly hideous fashions, I probably can't claim to be addicted in quite the same way!! For me, LoM was (as well as being a ruddy brilliant peice of entertainment)a real trip down memory lane. I remember records shops almost exactly like the one Sam and Annie go into in Ep1 - and I had one of those multi-coloured sweaters (though they really came into their own with Starsky & Hutch a few years later). I also had an absolutely hideous purple full length coat with fake purple fur trim all the way around that fastened with a few hooks - ruddy useless for keeping the wind out but did I think I was the bees knees when I wore that with my platform shoes...*shudders*. I was 15 in 1973 and fashion wise I have to say that I much prefer the 80's... I remember a pair of bright blue leather tie up shoes that I lived in, black plastic beads and button earrings... and ( ... )

i read quite a few comments about the awful 70's fashions but have to say that i love them but it's probably because i didn't grow up then. i wore flares and platforms in the 90's to techno discos when they were back in fashion, although i would have rather have danced to the original rock songs. i had a pair of 10in platform zebra striped ankle boots, they looked like original 70's ones. they were quite difficult to dance in *gg*
sams red flares though are the best costume in the entire two seasons :-)
