partly_bouncy says it's time to quit crying about FanLib.

Dec 20, 2009 22:36

I recently blocked partly_bouncy -- FanLib apologist, Fan History owner, and all-around bad news -- from this community. Two days later, there was an inept attempt to troll the comm by taiyoukai_nile, a partly_bouncy subscriber and Fan History member.

I then found at a Fan History blog an ungrammatical post by Nile, presumably taiyoukai_nile:

I ( Read more... )

Fantastic.

(I'm not crazy about this trend of reappearing wankers.)

It's a grim and sad waste of everyone's time. :(

It really bothers me me someone tries to take away something I enjoy, by screwing with the people who write it.

Now where's my dislike button...

When will this person go away? :( Fandom isn't the only avenue for making bucks, for crying out loud.

I just think it's hysterical that someone is so clueless as to think this community is mourning the departure of FanLib. Someone haz no reading skills

I don't think Nile read anything at all, but just carried out the directive "spread the word that people need to get over FanLib," and jumped to the conclusion "not getting over it" meant we were sad about it. Oops.

Partly_bouncy's trail is strewn with sad stories of people who were sucked into volunteering to build Fan History, then later discovering they had been used to carry out her anti-OTW, pro-FanLib agenda. I'm thinking of anarchicq and hector_rashbaum in particular.

taiyoukai_nile's relationship is a little more formal than most of those other people's ever was. She seems to be the FH "social media intern". (I just thought I'd link her post here for the record.)

It is unfortunate when a popular site is closed and may be difficult to get over, but it is not to cry about.

I know *sniffle* but I'm just so sad that I can't read my favourite Mary Sue authors in short non-scrollable pages filled with ads. *sobs*

*groans* I had forgotten about that "800 words per page limit" at FanLib, or whatever the hell it was. When I posted a story there to examine the interface, I almost went out of my mind.

Wow... interesting journal. I came across this because I have a persistent flamer, who is providing me with hours of entertainment, on my ff.net account, and I was curious about what the net had listed under the topic of "flamers".

I had heard about fanlib, but never subscribed. Thank goodness I didn't. I try to be careful about which writing sites I join and although that site is closed,I wonder how many others like it are out there. I plan to read the other links contained in this community and join your other communities and links.

Have you heard about the problem they are having with a writer that is taking, I think it's NCIS fanfiction stories, making them into anthologies and selling them on Amazon, with out the authors permission?

How do they get away with this?

Anyway, very interesting read and I look forward to visiting the other links. Hugs to you all.
