You may have heard the screams of outrage about the upcoming adaptation of Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising series. It sounds dreadful to me and I didn't care for the books much. It figures that fanlib would get involved in this trainwreck. http://www.walden.com/fanlib/ ( Read more... )

I've yet to read anything about that movie doesn't make me simmer with rage. Fanlib's involvment has just given me one more reason to hate them.

Okay, Reviews sound really, really bad ... I *might* watch it because Christopher Ecclestone is in it, but ... Whatever Fanlib wants to reach with that ...

There's a fannish movement to boycott the movie, so that it's less likely to start a trend of "adapting" fantasy series by changing them to nigh-unrecognizable splooge. cleolinda explains it pretty well.

Said my mom,, aged 73: this makes me weep. Said my daughter, aged 26: my Will Stanton is eleven years old.

I would not see it if they paid me - and it is more than appropriate that FanLib is there to get their part of the loot. They're only in it for the money!
