Forum drama. Link goes to FanLib. Highlights:

irvinekinneas:
Further to this point, how do you know what I think about FF.Net? Personally, I think it's the (second) shittiest archieve filled with the (second) shittiest fic this side of GAFF.

There's also an amusing thread of people hating on m-preg, but it wasn't funny enough for its own post.

I have to respond to this...that's my birthday, you know, and I am not even much a HP fan.

So if Armageddon starts on my birthday, can I still have cake ?

I gotta say... for years I've been under the impression that forum rules were there to empower moderators to punish people, not because anyone actually expected people to follow them. Way to go, FanLib, for making your moderators virtually impotent!

So FanLib's either going to be total anarchy or a police state. Huh. Maybe that's how they're planning to lure in the elusive teenage male fic writers.

So far it's pretty inconsistent. They deleted some wank, and left other wank. Some dissenters either got banned, or got bored and left, I'm not sure which. Others still seem to be there. Some appeared to retain their replying ability, and their permissions for starting new topics was removed.

The problem is it's such a ghost town that it takes the wank too long to unfold, lol. Forget popcorn, go ahead and do your taxes, get a manicure, build a shed, and maybe there'll be new wank by then.

LOL but I'm serious! No one replied to that thread since I posted this. Anywhere else it'd be epic proportions by now.

Looks like they were wrong about everything being "managed and moderated to the max".

What? Someone had to say it!

LOL. Well, they claim that was nothing to do with the site, and only regarding some contest they had in 2003 or something.

That cracked me up.

Seriously they can't enforce rules that don't exist. I feel like joining just toi troll the forums. Because I wouldn't be breaking any rules and I don't care about secret rules of "decency".

Also, what bothers me is that there's no official indication of who's a moderator or staff member. No special icon, no title on the profile, nothing. They look just like other posters.

Yeah, the reason I've said I'm only aware of one is that she has it in her signature. There is certainly the possibility that there are others.

Actually, there is a way to tell, but only if they're online. Their name appears in green on the forum front page. (Admins are yellow.) And oh hey, I see a moderator I've never heard of online right now. Looking at her profile, she has 3 forum posts.

I noticed this, too. It makes browsing the forum impossible. I have to see who's a mod, an admin, a staff member or GOD. If I don't see mods around I get the impression no one is looking after things.
