RP Moment/Fanfiction: Drinks On Me

Murphy sat in a bar, she didn't know the name. It was some random Manhattan bar near Anna's apartment. She just didn't want to go back there yet. She wasn't in a mood for company, not really. She shot him, John Allerdyce, the fugitive she'd been chasing for nearly two weeks now and she hated herself for it. It wasn't some big dramatic hate, not a ( Read more... )

Murphy looks down at her belt when he phone starts to buzz and she grabs his hastily. Snake couldn't have found the kid that quickly could he?

"Murphy." She says and gets a static buzz in return. She checks the bars on her phone. She should have perfect reception, but when she puts the phone back to her ear, she's still getting static. The tumblers click into place in Murphy's mind and she smiles just a little. "Harry, your phone is broken. You need to get a new one." she says loudly, earning her a few annoyed glares. She glares back and because she's a bad ass cop, the other patrons look away first.

"Oh sure, this one's fine. You sound like you're rubbing sandpaper against the mouth piece." She tucks her phone between her shoulder and ear so her hands are free and she can pay for her drink.

"Why are you calling? Did you blow something up? I told you not to get into any trouble while I'm gone." She keeps talking loudly as she leaves the bar and heads outside to disturb the people out there who aren't paying customers.

Anna sighed as she entered the bar and took a seat. The bartender brought her a bottle of beer and she thanked him with a simple nod. She'd told Don she had some paperwork to finish at the office and she'd be home later. Which was mostly true - she'd just finished a bit sooner than she expected to. This note Phelps had left on her desk this morning had gotten to her a bit more than she cared to admit and she just needed a damn drink and some time to herself. She loved Don, she really did, but Anna needed time to recharge on her own. A beer at a bar which was on her way to his place couldn't hurt, right?

Murphy came back into the bar after her phone call with Harry, glaring again at the patrons that remembered she was the loud talker. She won the staring contest once again and made her way back to the bar for a cup of coffee. She didn't want to drink any more, but she could definitely use a quick pick me up and something warm.

She blinked for a second when she spotted Anna at the bar and then hopped onto a stool next to her. "So, beautiful, come here often?" she joked.

Anna looked up at Murphy and gave her a pathetic half-smile, taking a swig of her beer before answering. "No, but maybe I will now." She joked back.

Her hair was out of it's usual ponytail and her glasses had mysteriously disappeared - if it weren't for the pantsuit and the gun on her hip she'd look like she was just another patron and not a cop.

"Sorry, I'm taken." Murphy wiggled her middle finger, showing off the ring Harry had given her to "distract" Allerdyce.

Chuckling she got her coffee and added sugar. "So, what are you doing here? You've been off with Don most nights."

"Why, thank you, that makes me feel so much better about my appearance." Murphy drawled.

"You looked fine, Murph. You just have that happy glow about you now. I like to call it 'The Harry Effect'."

Now Murphy did spit her coffee out, luckily it was back into the cup. She coughed for a second before glaring hard at Anna. "The Harry Effect? There's no Harry Effect. There's not Harry. It's the coffee."

"Sex has nothing to do with police work. It's outta your jurisdiction, Murph."

"Well, still have couch sex." Murphy said with shrug, "There's never a bad time for couch sex."

"Would you rather I bitch about my case to you?" Murphy asked with an eyebrow raised.
