Does anyone want a free website design for your small business or portfolio something? I'm thinking of doing some on the side again for extra money and it would be good to have some current examples besides my own websites

i've been thinking about a blog but i'm unsure if i want to join something like tumblr to build up a following/friends/community and then branch to my own site or just start off with a site first. it's a dilemma! i like those though :)

i think it's good to host your own content if you can but you're likely to get more exposure on a large, known, established site. if you can successfully funnel traffic to your place from there, that works. what you could do is write an excerpt in the free blog space with a link to the full entry at your own domain.

well if you want a design just give me a basic idea of what you would like, sometimes clients do sketches if they have ideas of how it should look, other times it's good enough to describe it.

(i realise i could just make sample sites with fake content but i figured if i am going to be spending time developing something anyway maybe some of my friends could use it, lol)

I'm interested. I have a domain that I purchased and have linked to Blogger (but I also have server space for custom graphics, CGI, etc.).

I want to make a blog about things I learn about general wellness (physical and psychological), exercise, and transhumanism. I'm fascinated by transhumanism in general, but want to explore the things we can do now to make our lives better for ourselves, rather than waiting for cyborg implants. If that makes sense. Obviously I need to work on my mission statement! You can see my site here. I made a banner, set up the Amazon ads, and ... that's about as far as I got. Actually doing something with this blog is on my 101 Things in 1001 Days list.

But I'd feel awful not paying you. Let's chat!

oh i love that banner, is it from free stock or do you otherwise have rights to the images you used for it? or did you make it from scratch? it's really beautiful.

well i offered to do it for free :)

tell me what you had in mind for how it should look, if you had some ideas already. that image could lend really well to a style with it stretching like a landscape, similar to what i did with the mandalas site. i like the white with it too, it's tidy, but if you want more colours there are plenty in the image that could be taken to use as accents in other areas. idk what changes you were thinking though so fill me in.

No, I don't own the rights to the image. I found the original here and modified the dimensions to make it a banner. I'd like for the finished site to be all either original or things I am using with permission, though. That's one of the big reasons I stopped working on it. I don't have the skill to do anything visually without significantly copying from others. But I love the way the banner looks right now. So maybe that can be some inspiration. At the very least, perhaps we can make some kind of arrangement where I pay to you make a custom banner that is inspired by my temporary one?

that design is pretty simple. it looks like one of the livejournal S2 styles.

what does implementation of the RSS feed entail, is it just a chunk of code to copy and paste in? i've never had to do it.

The description just says "blue-faced", but I always think of the Blue Man Group. Now that you mention it, Cameron's Avatar is another way to think about it. :P
