Kim isn't sure when it happened, but sometime between when she started dating Tommy and when she left for the Pan Globals, she fell in love. Not that she realized it at the time. Back then she was still all wrapped up in Tommy and TRUE LOVE (which later turned out to be TRUE LUST) to realize who it was her heart really beat for. And by the time she did, he was off on his own adventure chasing after the one he thought he loved. So it really is surprising that she finds herself here, sitting across from him, talking about their possible future. Kim isn't sure how it happened, all she knows is she's glad it did.

Billy fell fast and hard way back in third grade for a pretty little girl with a big pink bow in her hair. She was intelligent, funny and kind to him where other children were more inclined to mock. And when she smiled the rest of the world went out of focus. But even his eight year old self knew better than to ever hope for more than friendship with her. Girls like that, with dazzling smiles and pink hair bows, belonged to a completely different social strata than boys with glasses and highly developed intellects. And so Billy contented himself with being her friend. Yet somehow, thirty years later, he is sitting across from that same pretty girl. She's all grown up, with laugh lines and not a scrap of pink in sight, but her smile still makes the world go fuzzy on the edges. And she's smiling at him.
