Poor Sirius.
...switch houses? She is insane. It's far too late for that if it's even possible at all. (I can only imagine a request to switch houses being met by a long, gentle, speech form Dumbledore about how it's what we make of ourselves that matters)
Eeeps. Poor James. You are a very brave friend for sitting with him during these moods and helping him calm down.
I now wonder if (obviously in your fic world) this lie would be what finally got him kicked out of his house. Or his refusal to changes Houses.
Sigh. Also before Lily beat some sense into James but that will come, that will come.

Great job, Leah! I love this fic :D

*squees* Oh, Leah, you've done it again. You've captured so much of their relationship here...the trust, the friendship, the edge of antagonism. And even if you don't know anything else about Sirius and his family, you know exactly what their relationship is like from reading this story.

At least, knew better than Remus or Peter, both of whom had hurried to the library at first glance of the Black family seal.

They are very very smart. I would have done the same.

"That's exactly the bloody problem!" Sirius insisted

Sometimes, it's not the new things, but the same old same old that finally drives you over the edge.

James' solution is so...well, obvious. Why did they not think of it before?

If he were, then James would have very few qualms about fully cursing the House of Black.

Perfect, just perfect.

This is great!

Sirius's proclamations of Walburga's insanity reminded me of how my own friends (and me) probably proclaimed it on our parents... of course, I think Sirius might have actually been right. XD

And yet, Walburga's demands are completely normal in the context of the mad Walburga we know about. I really liked seeing this through James's perspective, who clearly can't relate to what Sirius is going through, but understands his friend enough to know what to say and do. I really liked the dynamic between them both, and your portrayal of them as 15-year-olds feel spot-on.

Well done :D

Thank you!! I'm so glad you liked it.

Yes, my head!canon Walburga is very close to being actually insane, so my head!canon Sirius is quite justified in saying this.

This is exactly what I was trying to say in my comment, but couldn't find the words. Thanks for saying what I was trying to say. :)
