Title: Fate has a strange way of bringing ‘U’ and ‘I’ together.
Author: liddonemo
Pairing: Callie/Arizona
Rating: PG 13 though rating may be changed for later chapters
Summary: Arizona Robbins just got out of a relationship and decides to leave Mass Gen and decides to take the offer of Seattle Grace Hospital. Callie Torres just got out of a confusing relationship and decides to take a break from dating. Was the meeting at the bar coincidence or fate? (I suck at summaries… but I tried)
Disclaimer: I do not own anything pertaining Grey’s Anatomy, or anything else I may refer to. I don’t even own the lovely Arizona (no matter how much I wish I did) and this is purely for fun, so no. I’m not getting any profit for this.

A/N: I think this is an awesome chapter, but that’s just my opinion. Read it and see for yourself. Oh and THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! For reading this. It means so much to me.
Not much could make Arizona speechless. She was known for rambling on and on, something she couldn’t really help. But what Callie said made her speechless. I like you, kept running through her mind. Callie looked at Arizona and took in a deep breath when she noticed that Arizona wasn’t going to answer. “I mean, I have feelings for you, and…and it scares me because I don’t want to have feelings for you” a flash of hurt appeared on Arizona’s face, still not able to speak.

Callie groaned in frustration. “Not that I don’t want to have feelings for you, but I don’t want to have feelings for anyone…” Callie continued as she watched Arizona’s face, hoping that the hurt would leave. Callie sighed and stopped talking. She looked down, and a headache started forming. “I’ve been hurt, you know” Arizona said in a voice, barely above a whisper.

When Callie looked up, into those eyes that are normally so sparkly and blue, she didn’t see those familiar eyes. She saw a ghost of what used to be there, glistened in tears. “I was engaged…” she said, a smile playing on her lips as she thought of her ex-fiancé. The smile immediately disappeared. “And I got hurt…” Arizona said, her voice cracking a bit.

Callie wasn’t used to this. She was used to happy Arizona, perky and always looking to the bright side of things. “I’m sorry…he was stupid to ever hurt you” Callie said. That statement snapped Arizona out of her thoughts and she raised an eyebrow to Callie. “She is amazing… At least she was amazing”

Callie looked at Arizona and felt like she needed to smack herself. She automatically thought that Arizona had been engaged to a guy. She had never stopped to think that Arizona was lesbian. “Oh.” She said simply. Arizona got lost in thought once again.

(Flashback)
Arizona wanted to surprise her fiancé. It had been 4 years since she had first met Jenna. She grinned slightly to herself. She asked her boss if she could take the day off, and even though it was hard to pull off, she’d gotten the time off. As Arizona walked into the apartment building her smile grew, if that was even possible.

Instead of taking the stairs like she would usually do, Arizona couldn’t wait to see her fiancé. She took the elevator and as it stopped on the 3rd floor, she was practically giddy. She had brought Jenna’s favorite chocolate, and a big bear. She had a dinner reservation at the best restaurant in Massachusetts, which she had to pull a few strings for. And she had brought her a beautiful diamond necklace that had their names engraved on it.

Arizona reached her apartment door and took out her key. She quietly opened the door, wanting her appearance to be a total surprise. As she started walking towards her room, she heard some noises on the other side of the door. She opened it slightly, and the sight she saw broke her heart. Everything she had in her hands dropped to the floor. “Zona…” said Jenna. “Arizona…” said the other voice, her best friend.

Arizona stepped back in disbelief. This couldn’t have been happening. Not to her, not on this day. She turned around and ran out of her apartment door. She knew she would have to deal with it sometime, but she couldn’t deal with it now. She couldn’t deal with anything now.
(End Flashback)

Callie stared at Arizona as she started to tear up again. Arizona sniffled as she tried to get away from the thoughts, and keep her tears in her eyes. She didn’t need anyone to see her like it. “Bad things happen to good people…” Arizona said, her eyes closing. She couldn’t look at Callie. Not now, not when she was on the verge of a breakdown.

Arizona just shook her head as she tried to speak, no words coming out. Her words were being chocked by sobs as she continued to tear up, some tears finally escaping. “Ari…” Callie said, and just like that it through her over the edge. Her sobbing was in full force. She had never really cried over this. Like really, truly cried.

Callie pulled Arizona into a hug and kissed her forehead. “I’m so sorry…” she said. Arizona’s body was still shaking with sobs, while Callie still held on tight to her. Arizona felt safe in her arms. After a few minutes of crying, the sound started to go down into short sniffles. Arizona laid her head on Callie’s lap as Callie stroke through her hair.

“She broke me.” Arizona whispered. She looked forward, right at a wall. She laughed, even though there was nothing funny at all. “She broke me, and so did my best friend” was all she said. Callie took in a deep breath. She hated to see Arizona like this, so defeated and vulnerable. She felt helpless as she watched the girl cry.

“Arizona look at me” Callie said, her voice strong and determined. Arizona resisted looking at her for a few seconds. “Arizona.” Callie said again, her voice stronger, yet still gentle. Arizona looked up, and locked eyes with a beautiful shade of brown eyes. The most gorgeous eyes she’s ever seen. “You deserve better.” Callie said, wanting Arizona to believe it, to let her understand that she did deserve better. That she does deserve better.

Arizona couldn’t control her emotions, or her body, anymore and pulled Callie into the most breathtaking kiss. At first Callie froze, not really sure what to do at first, then found herself responding to the kiss. She placed her hand onto Arizona’s cheek and pulled her closer, suddenly needing to touch her any and everywhere.

The kiss was much more than a kiss. It told each other what the other couldn’t say. It let them let go of their pain, their hurt, and their pass lovers. It was a kiss that conveyed their deepest feelings for each other. Callie slid her tongue across Arizona’s lips asking for entry which was quickly granted. There was a battle between the two tongues, over who had dominance.

Reluctantly, Callie pulled back, her eyes locked onto the wonderful ocean-blue eyes in front of her. “Wow…” was all she could manage to get out. Arizona stifled a laugh, and then grinned while nodding. “Awesome.” She said. Callie raised her eyebrow at the word awesome. “Awesome?” she asked in a confused yet amused tone. “In my life, there is nothing greater than awesome. And if it gets awesome, that’s as best as it gets.” She smiled big, flashing Callie her best dimple smile.

“Awesome” Callie said with a big smile on her face. She knew this wouldn’t last, and she knew that she still needed to talk to Arizona about everything. But she needed this. This one moment of happiness before reality came crashing back in. Callie took in a deep breath and smiled at the beautiful blonde in front of her. A/N 2: This is a personal favorite of mine. It was fun to write, well the last part at least. The whole Arizona being broken part, broke my little heart because well, how can you stand to hurt her? But yeah, definitely a personal favorite. We are finally starting to get to know Arizona’s past. We get more into that later. Please read and review. Its greatly appreciated.
