What to put on the application resume?

So far I have my education background (should I include my gpa since it's already on the transcript?)and my relevant volunteer experience (volunteering in a library and at a museum archives). I'm thinking about adding my non-relevant work history (assistant manager at a restaurant) since it's been two years since I graduated. That would give me ( Read more... )

No GPA, but indicate if you graduated with any kind of honors. Leave off the objective, it should be covered in your SOP and they're pretty pointless anyway. Where are you applying? Unless it's somewhere competitive I wouldn't worry about it too much. A lot of schools pretty much let everyone in.

Awesome, looks like its pretty much done then. Is UCLA really competitive? Some people say it is and others say it's not. I know Washington is one of the more competitive ones.

Definitely add your work history. Despite not being in a library, it is actually relevant, since managerial skills are in high demand in the library field.

Agreed that the objective is something to leave off--prevailing wisdom at Hiring Librarians is that it's wholly unnecessary for library resumes. Ditto GPA, since it'll be on the transcript.

I don't think they'd be put off by you including college activities, but I don't know if including them would be in your favor either. Seems more of a neutral element to me.

A one-page resume is fine--it's all I had until I graduated from grad school.
