Wow. Um. Yeah. Wow. Another one for my rec list, definitely. This is sad and poignant and I absolutely love the way Derek tries to be all growly protective and it fits so perfectly with canon characters. But the end. OMG the end. My heart breaks for Derek, who is kicking himself over it, and Stiles who got what he wanted but might not get to keep it because of how it happened. Oh my dear boys. Wonderful. You hit it out of the park again (so not surprised!).

I have decided, in my own head, that in the future Stiles, and his blunt, forthright, and utterly STUBBORN way, might manage to get through Derek's fresh new walls and it all works out. Even if it takes a lot of time. :)

I love the ending because it is not bleak, it is just horrible right this second and there is a possibility it will stay that way, but the possibility that it could someday be repaired is still out there too. That's the mark of a great non-happy ending, IMO.

Yes. This is what I love playing with, where things are horrible but you can still see past the horrible to possibilities for not-horrible. Whether they're easy, or really far away and hard to get to. If that makes sense. An ending that could be happy if people work at it.

This was gorgeous. I think what i'm going to say next is weird but IDEC: I love the way you write this sort of thing. You never shy away from the aftermath. Never. And that's something that should happen more often in fic. I would love to see the after-aftermath of this though. I have a feeling the fallout is going to last.

Thank you so much, that's an amazing compliment. Honestly, I can't leave things. I always want them to feel real and honest. I love aftermath stories, especially when they're difficult and hard work and sometimes awful. So I'm always trying to get a sense of where people are at at the end of things, even when I don't follow through with sequels. And I don't even know if i made sense there but, yes, that really means a lot to me.
