Beyond the Sea, Log 3/??? [Video]

Aug 11, 2011 14:39

Hello, everyone!
[ Evelyn smiles brightly into the video transceiver, backing up from her Farnsworth communicator so that the upper half of an incredibly fashionable striped swimsuit is visible, as well as her weather-appropriate specimen of millinery.  There is little else but sky behind her, and the quiet rush of the surf in the background. ]

[Did someone say beach? Guess what one of Feferi's favourite places is?]

You're at the beach? Well why didn't you say! I'll be right there!

By all means, please do join me.

[Another grey-skinned person...well. As long as this one doesn't bite her.]

[Don't worry, Feferi doesn't bite. Not unless she has to.

It doesn't take her long to make her way to the beach and she soon sees the human who posted the video]

Hi! I'm Feferi! You've picked a great day to come here.

I think so, yes.

[Evelyn smiles politely and gets off of her beach blanket to shake hands with Feferi.]

A pleasure to meet you - my name is Evelyn Carnahan.

[Oh look, your favorite person in the whole world is taking a walk right now...]

[Fortunately she has yet to notice this HORRIFIC ACT OF BEACHTIME INTERRUPTION (TM) because she is sitting on a blanket under a parasol, reading.]

Evelyn, how interesting to find this woman here.

[Standing in your light.]

[Evelyn tries really, really hard not to let it show how much his presence bothers her. She's a grown woman, she can handle this.

She doesn't even bother to look up from her book.]

Go. Away.

You seem to be settling in well.

[She's gotten used to all sorts of strange people, too.]

Mister Owl!

[Evelyn smiles brightly.]

Yes, I am. It's not longer as much of a terrifying place, although the events are certainly unsettling. How are you?

[He returns her smile.] I'm well enough.

Have you done alright with the events? I hope you didn't have too much trouble.

They've been...all right, I suppose. I'm getting along. Still becoming adjusted to everything, you know.

[Mark's strolling along the beach in his shirtsleeves, as per usual; it helps him think, despite the associations. Still at some distance, he gives Evelyn a casual little wave.]

[Having learned her lesson about being completely absorbed in a book, allowing someone to sneak up on her, Evelyn was admiring the remarkably clear, blue skies...

...up until she noticed a figure waving at her.]

Mark!

[She waves back, sitting up and gesturing that he come over.]

Good afternoon.

[ Can you guess who's been taking lessons from Russia? I'll give you a hint:

THIS GURL. RIGHT HERE. HELL YEAH.

She's not good enough to crawl out of Evelyn's picnic basket (yet), but she's still capable of a dramatic (and creepy as shit) entrance. The sand near Evenlyn will quiver and shake before fucking ERUPTING, a gray hand bursting through and reaching for the sky. It's followed shortly by another hand, a head of dark hair, and finally, the torso of a familiar troll.

Hi Evelyn. ]

Unnf... Fuck, I think I'm stuck.

[ It's a true statement. She's scrabbling around, trying to get her waist-down free from the sand. It is unsuccessful. ]

Shit! I lost my glasses, too! Fuck, fuck, fuck!

[Evelyn was minding her own business, reading her book, up until a very familiar troll exploded out of the sand in front of her. She screamed. She's not proud of that.]

O-Oh my word- What are you doing in there?!

[Well, there goes her hat again. And her copy of A History of the Extraordinary Practises of Ancient Egypt. Evelyn does pride herself on being able to keep calm in stressful situations, though, so Terezi will just have to wait this out like a champ.]

Hold...hold still for a moment, will you? I can't help you if you don't stop writhing!

[ Grunt, wiggle, grunt, grunt, wiggle. Papping at the sand. S111GNNN. ]

I've got sand down my pants.

And you have only yourself to blame, you know!

[I'll bet you weren't expecting to be scolded, huh? Well, buckle up.

Evelyn digs at the edges with both hands - warily, because that bite mark left a scar thank-you-very-much - and pulls a small pile of sand to the side as she works.]

I don't- [Dig, and dig...] -really understand why you thought this would be a good idea at all- [...and dig...] -but you ought to think about things before committing to them the next time around- [...and diggity-dig.] -are we clear?

[She should be able to worm her way out, now.]
