I'm so excited!! I was digging through some of my reenactment-related links for a friend when I decided to go check something out at Reconstructing History Patterns, when I saw that they now carry reed boning for stays!!! Whoo hoo!! They carry four different types, too, unlike Silly Sisters: 1/4" flat oval, 5/8" flat oval, 1mm round, and 3mm ( Read more... )

Yay rare book class, phooey no gold bullion, yay dancing sliippers, yay stays, and holy crap to corded petticoat 2.0!

And I'm shaking my fist northward at LMU in a terribly threatening way. Should they keep you on tenterhooks fro much longer, in the words of Edmund Blackadder, I shall nightly pray to the God that killed Cain and squashed Samson that He comes out of retirement and gest back into practice on the lot of them!

That's awfully nice of you to do all that.

On a completely unrelated note, you bellydance, yes? Where do you take classes, in what style, and how much does it cost?

My pleasure! :D

I take classes at the Doyle Park Rec Center (flier with dates and pricing here. The style is largely Turkish, though we do some Egyptian moves, with a bit of "tribal" thrown in. Rebecca, our instructor, also teaches Flamenco and has a BA in dance from UCSD. Thus, we get to do some fun fusion stuff. I've been taking lessons for nearly a year, and I absolutely love it!

Wow, that's right near campus, and at a really convenient time... I may need to sign up for the next session. What kind of group of people are in the class? Is it a big class?
