thoughts on forcing a faith-choice

a lot of times, parents use the church to teach their children what it means to be christian - and that, my dear friends, is a horrible way to go. the "church" as we know it is far from spotless and holy. christians are people who attend their sunday morning, sunday night and wednesday services, if all that, and go out and live the rest of their ( Read more... )

yes, but the world looks at the church as an example, and they don't realize that christianity doesn't mean perfection. i think that if you can't demonstrate Christ in your life on a regular basis, you shouldn't broadcast it.

There is a video on the subject that you brought up in this post. It is the best one I have ever seen on offenses and how they effect us and how to deal with them. It is by John Bevere and the name of it is "The Bait of Satan". You can order it on his website at messengerintl.org. Believeinchrist is my daughter and I appreciated very much her comment on our family. Learning how to overcome offenses adds a lot to the quality of life, no matter who you are.

I would like to add that I called the website to order the video and found that they have a 4 DVD study course and a book and workbook on "The Bait of Satan" I ordered the workbook and videos. The one video by itself is an overview, so that is good too If a person doesn't want to get into it for a study. I also wanted to give my perspective on believeinchrist's perspective on our family. Our son, in my opinion is struggling with offenses and also trying to work out his faith according to what he believes for himself, not just what he was taught. In doing that, it might appear to others and even himself at times that he does not have faith, but I believe that he does have a very deep faith. Since we brought up our family to search the scriptures for themselves and let the Bible be the measuring stick for everything, not what others tell you, they are all doing that with all their might and it has led them all to very different paths than the others. It is very interesting that many Christians can see very many different meanings ( ... )

I am glad you replied. I have been missing your posts, but can't say anything because I haven't been posting either. I am praying for you right now. I pray that God will heal your wounds and show you the things that you need to know. Most of all, I pray that you will feel His love and care for you in spite of everything that has left its mark on you. I pray that you will be touched with the healing oil of the Holy Spirit and that all the firey darts of Satan will be pulled out of your spirit. I pray that you will be blessed with the gift of faith. I really agree that no one can force a faith choice. We now never lead a person in a prayer to recieve Christ. We just ask them to pray what is in their heart. The Lord Jesus Christ can't be reduced to a formula. If a person wants to give their heart to Him, he knows it. He sees all our thoughts. I also pray for all of us in the body of Christ that the strongholds of false thoughts will be pulled down by knowing the truth which will set us free. I know this will happen because ( ... )
