I don't really consider what I'm on to be a "diet" as such. I'm not sure why... I mean, essentially it is, but... yeah. The motivation is what has to be key. If all you have is dissatisfaction with appearance... well, no matter how good you look, there will always be a little of that in the back of your head, which can and often will lead back into a spiral of out-of-controlness. I was unhappy with how I looked, no question... but I still am, and I always have been. I was unhappy when I was 12. So

It's interesting to note that you say that dissatisfaction with body image is not a good reason to diet, but not fitting into a variety of clothing was exactly what brought on this diet. I don't think that's a wrong reason to be on a diet, and I know you want a healthier lifestyle and that's why you're starting this diet, but I can't believe that dissatisfaction with your body image has nothing to do with it since that was what spurred you to make this change in your life.
A frustrating incident having to do with needing to buy an expensive dress is a fine reason to actually *start* the diet you've been thinking about and planning for a good long time. :-)
