what is essential is unattainable

Lost forever.
There is no way back to be found
When life has no direction.

The life line is erased.
Overwhelming insecurities.
Paralysed minds.
This cant go on forever.

Packaged emptiness is still emptiness.
Consumerism is no life filler.
What is essential is unattainable.
Not here. Not now.

All too true.. every week that passes, I find one more friend that's depressed because life itself is crushing them. Why? A lot of it has to do with money, and the ability (or fear of the inability) to obtain enough of it to even sanely stay alive in today's world. No amount of counselling or anti-depressants can ever cure this.. consumerism itself drives costs ever higher, unlike the dream we've been told about where it's supposed to make them lower and lower. And, if costs were lower, with our habits, we'd likely just consume more anyways, since that seems to be the prevailing attitude of the present: Those who do have a lot of money often own more than they could possibly ever need, to satisfy some sort of sick lifestyle that's been sold to them.
