I see a lot of people arguing that it's satirize. I believe it probably is. The problem is, the beliefs they're satirizing are far too common. It's not just the wingnuts, it's mainstream Republican AND Democratic voters who've bought into the smears about Obama. It's incredibly frustrating.

They may think they're skewering them, but they're reinforcing them, especially by putting it on the cover.

I agree with you completely - and it bears emphasizing the other point the article makes - nobody would EVER paint such an offensive picture of John McCain, even in jest.

I mean, I can see right now the cover they could do: McCain in some sort of a rage, throttling a staffer or a journalist or someone, with his wife watching impassively from the sidelines; maybe throw a box of Depends in the corner for good measure. Put Bushy in there, patting him on the back for a job well done, and maybe a copy of the Constitution in the fire, and you're golden!

Nobody will ever do that, or if they do they will be crucified.
