Maybe it's different for those of us who were alive and at least semi-politically aware during his presidency, but I only remember Reagan as a bumbling idiot of a president. His two best-known initiatives - Star Wars and the trickle-down theory of economics - were both equally stupid and dismal failures, and he left behind a country going to financial ruin (helped along by George Bush the elder).

And hey, what's up with that? Why are the republicans - supposedly the ones who disdain government spending - always the ones racking up massive amounts of debt for the country?

Reagan was a moron, just like Bush. I voted against THAT motherfucker twice, too, for all the good it did me. He busted the air traffic controller's union, I remember that. A lot of "dumbass" jokes went around. (Makes me associate Republicans and lack of intelligence, actually.)

I have grown kids who were babies when Reagan was in office, so I remember all too well. He brought the end of so many government programs that benefited poor people. It really galls me that people worship his ass.

May the senile old bastard rot in hell.
